My son is obsessed with cars, especially Lightning McQueen.
So, this theme was perfect for his 3rd birthday.
Unfortunately, his birthday conflicted with a lot of out of town plans, and other parties going on. So some of our friends and family weren’t able to make it. We sure missed seeing them, but we still had a great time.
The ‘Happy 3rd Birthday’ Banner was hand-made.
The circles are cardboard pieces, covered in white printer paper. The red outline is actually bunched up streamers, that I taped to the back. I used a hole punch to make two holes through at the top, so I could hang them up using red ribbon.
What 3rd birthday party would be complete without a piñata, filled with strange candy. (We also had a matching checkered flag but I forget to get a good picture of that.)
I wanted to have snacks that might be found at a race track . So we went with Water, Juice (Pop/Soda were in the cooler), Peanuts, and Popcorn.
For the Party Favors, I made Luigi’s Casa Della Tires!
Where the guest could pick up a goodie bag filled with
The other table had party favors, bubbles and some ‘Car's’ crayons to color a picture of Lightning McQueen.
The first game we played was Water Balloon Toss.
Which eventually turned into a Water Balloon Fight.
The next game was Hit The Can.
Where you stack up empty pop cans, and see who can hit them down using only rubber bands.
We ordered Hungry Howies Pizza. Amen for their [free] flavored crust.
Mingled a bit…
And then got down to business with the Costco cake.
The ‘Cars’ cake inserts are just pictures that I cut out of a coloring book.
I used the front/back pages because they are stronger & shiny.
Then I taped them onto an un-used chop stick.
Have you tried their frosting? Other grocery stores should bow down to it.
Make that wish, it’s cake time.
Then his favorite, the birthday gifts.
Did I mention he loves cars? ;)
When it was time for the piñata. The birthday boy went first.
And actually did manage to get some candy out of there.
Then the adults wanted a turn. And things got ugly. Quick.
I imagine they would be the winners, if we had a game called ‘The Cutest Couple at the party’.
Well that was his party! I had so much fun making all of the decorations and seeing it all come together. I hope everyone had a great time, especially my little man. I can’t believe how fast time has gone by. I’m guessing this year will do the same thing. Let’s make it great one. Ka Chow.
